Crisp autumn air settles in, frost tonight, how about those reds!

It's been a couple of weeks since I've been able to explain-away the creeping autumn colors on sick trees... nope, no getting around it, fall has arrived and things are getting quite brilliant at about the 1,400' foot level and above. The arborists tell us to expect a brilliant, colorful foliage season, with lots of reds and oranges, thanks to our wet and cool summer. I'll add that it seems a week or so early, too...

The weather is right on schedule, with frost advisories up for northern Vermont. We'll be pulling up the last of the basil and lettuce tonight, but might cover up the tomatoes and a few other vegies to keep the season going a bit longer...

The British are coming

The British Invasion arrived this weekend. No, we've not been annexed by the UK and now show loyalty to the Crown. The British Invasion is an annual British car show where Stowe goes all out to welcome our neighbors across the pond. It's quite a site, really, all those smoke-spewing MGs toiling around town. I half expected to see Austin Powers -- international man of mystery -- at last night's village block party. We really know how to throw a party and lay down the welcome mat!

Welcome, Brits. Come back again real soon, we love seeing you here.

Welcome to the stowe.net relaunch

Stowe.net aims to be be an inclusive guide to all of Stowe and the Stowe business community. Our goal is to present the town as irresistible to potential visitors, and to remind locals, in case they need reminding, of why it is such a great place to live.

Stowe.net will always be a work-in-progress, as this community never stands still long enough to capture it all. From a technology standpoint, we'll never be done building it, either. As you surf through the site, you'll note the inclusion of some cool "Web 2.0" technologies, plus a hearty embrace of social networking sites like Facebook.

Another thing we'll be expanding greatly is the use of web video on stowe.net. You can see some of that already, as we've been building a library of our own videos that show off some of Stowe's attractions in a professional manner. Taking advantage of the social networking aspects of YouTube, our videos won't be seen just here, but will be readily viewable to millions of people around the world on YouTube. If you are a Stowe business owner, think about the benefit of adding a video profile of your business to stowe.net and YouTube... some of the more forward thinking members of our business community have already beat you to it.

So, thanks again for stopping by, and please do visit us again soon as we grow.
