It's been a couple of weeks since I've been able to explain-away the creeping autumn colors on sick trees... nope, no getting around it, fall has arrived and things are getting quite brilliant at about the 1,400' foot level and above. The arborists tell us to expect a brilliant, colorful foliage season, with lots of reds and oranges, thanks to our wet and cool summer. I'll add that it seems a week or so early, too...
The weather is right on schedule, with frost advisories up for northern Vermont. We'll be pulling up the last of the basil and lettuce tonight, but might cover up the tomatoes and a few other vegies to keep the season going a bit longer...
