It's been a couple of weeks since I've been able to explain-away the creeping autumn colors on sick trees... nope, no getting around it, fall has arrived and things are getting quite brilliant at about the 1,400' foot level and above. The arborists tell us to expect a brilliant, colorful foliage season, with lots of reds and oranges, thanks to our wet and cool summer. I'll add that it seems a week or so early, too...
The weather is right on schedule, with frost advisories up for northern Vermont. We'll be pulling up the last of the basil and lettuce tonight, but might cover up the tomatoes and a few other vegies to keep the season going a bit longer...

The British are coming
The British Invasion arrived this weekend. No, we've not been annexed by the UK and now show loyalty to the Crown. The British Invasion is an annual British car show where Stowe goes all out to welcome our neighbors across the pond. It's quite a site, really, all those smoke-spewing MGs toiling around town. I half expected to see Austin Powers -- international man of mystery -- at last night's village block party. We really know how to throw a party and lay down the welcome mat!
Welcome, Brits. Come back again real soon, we love seeing you here.
